Bihar locals build makeshift boat to travel through flooded areas

As Bihar continues to face water-logging in many areas, on Saturday, locals of Rajendra Nagar have built a makeshift boat to travel through flooded areas

As some areas of Bihar continue to face water-logging problem, On Saturday, locals of Rajendra Nagar constructed a makeshift boat to travel through flooded streets. A few locals were seen putting together a makeshift bamboo boat to travel through the flooded streets and help the locals who are still stuck at their homes, as earlier to commute from one place to other, a lot of people were seen wading through knee-deep waters

A local Priyaranjan Kumar said, "Teams are not carrying out the rescue operation anymore so we trying to help some stuck people. The water is very dirty and has seeped into our homes. We are facing a lot of problems as there is no proper drinking water, food."

NDRF and other authorities have been using tractors to carry out rescue operations in the flood-affected state 

"The teams are still here. The water level has gone down by 1 ft in some areas. We are using tractors for the rescue operation and will also help in carrying their luggage," says an official of the NDRF team.

Fogging work begins

Patna Municipal Corporation Officer has also started with the fogging process in the waterlogged areas. The fogging process is done to keep the vector-borne diseases at bay.

The officer, Saurav Kumar while talking to a news agency said, "The chemical is being sprayed to make the water odourless and destroy insects. The fogging will decrease the chances of spreading of bacteria."

Not just in Patna but other low-lying areas like Kankarbagh, Rajendra Nagar, Gardani Bagh, Dak Bungalow, and SK Puri are also facing heavy water-logging issues due to heavy rainfall. As per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Patna and it's surrounding areas are likely to receive few spells of rainfall with thunderstorms and dust storms in the upcoming week.
After extremely heavy rainfall that resulted in floods in the state, the death count has gone up to 73, with nine people reported injured, according to the Bihar state officials.
