BJP Jammu and Kashmir chief Ravinder Raina broke down on Thursday night while speaking about his colleague Anil Parihar who was murdered in cold blood along with his brother Ajit Parihar in Jammu's Kishtwar.
Raina appeared on Republic TV shortly after the horrific news of the double-killing broke, and said that it was a shocking incident. He spoke in glowing terms about Anil Parihar, who had been the BJP's state secretary, calling him a brave son of Mother India.
Stating that it was an attack carried out by Pakistani terrorists, Raina said, "Anil Parihar was a brave son of Mother India. He was fighting for the country and he fought against Pakistani terrorists. He was attacked many times by Pakistani terrorists, and was even sent to Himachal Pradesh by my former BJP state presidents as he had been on terrorists' radar. Both brothers were brave and bold. Very nationalist leaders."
He spoke further about how the brothers had always supported the Indian forces and were true nationalists:
"Whenever it comes to the Nation, the Army, police and paramilitary forces need support from civilians. These brothers, Anil Parihar and Ajit, remained firm and supported the country and the Indian Army. They supported the J&K Police... they were true nationalists", Raina said, breaking down.
Raina spoke about how there had been inputs about a threat to politicians in Kishtwar as a result of Pakistani terrorists entering the area:
"Last month a senior intelligence agency officer came to meet me and he briefed me to take all security measures because they had inputs and they intercepted messages that some Pakistani terrorists infiltrated into India with a target to kill some politicians. He said 8-10 Pakistani terrorists from South Kashmir entered into the Kishtwar area and planned to kill politicians. A minister briefed me that measures need to be taken. We were planning to meet the Governor."
Ravinder Raina also spoke about how Anil Parihar was a great admirer of our democracy, saying:
"Anil Parihar had been sent to the area for the Panchayat elections which will start from November 17 and I made him in charge of three districts. He had gone to Kishtwar, he invited workers to participate in elections... He actively participated in various parts in Jammu and Kashmir valley also. He was a brave son of the soil. He was a great admirer of our democracy. He went there for smooth conduct of elections.
"It's an act of cowardly Pakistani traitors", Raina said, before breaking down completely, lost for words.
