Do you eat eggs? If this BJP leader is to be believed, one day you might turn into a cannibal.

The opposition Bhartiya Janata Party has opposed the Kamalnath government's decision to include eggs in the mid-day meals for children studying in Anganwadi schools in Madhya Pradesh. Countering the Madhya Pradesh government's decision, BJP leader Gopal Bhargava said that eating meat is against the Sanatan Sanskriti in India.

Speaking to media the BJP leader said, "Consuming meat is forbidden in Indian culture. If we start consuming non-vegetarian food since childhood, we might grow up to be cannibals."

Earlier in the day, former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Shivraj Singh Chouhan had also attacked the Kamalnath government over its decision to introduce eggs in the midday meal menu of the Anganwadi schools. "It depends upon the people on what they want to eat and what they don't want to eat. The government asking people to eat eggs is not right. We strongly condemn the state government's decision of serving eggs in the Anganwadi schools," he said.

BJP demands separate arrangements for vegetarian students

The opposition party BJP, while talking about the scheme, raised their concerns about arrangements made for vegetarian children in the state. BJP MLA Rameshwar Sharma, said, “There is no question of objecting to any scheme of the state government. Our concern is about vegetarian children who study in these Anganwadis too. Separate arrangements should be made for them as well."

The Madhya Pradesh government had decided to introduce eggs in the mid-day meals in the Anganwadis in a bid to end malnutrition in the state. Sharma slammed the decision saying that it is the Chief Minister Kamal Nath-led state government that is "malnourished".
