The Chanasma MLA Dilipkumar Thakor was flabbergasted when several protestors from his own community and clan condemned him by putting up posters against him and also showed obvious dissatisfaction. The reason behind it was a complaint filed against him by his daughter-in-law, Jumaben Thakor, for ‘torture’ and 'violence'.
Hundreds of protestors gathered at the venue where Dilipkumar was ironically called as a chief guest. After the protestors tried to approach the stage and physically harm the BJP MLA, the police took action and conducted a lathi charge to control the crowd. In this lathi charge, several protestors were injured and at least twenty one were detained by the police after the event got over.
“We had to conduct lathi charge to contain the situation. Several protestors were also creating havoc for the commuters as well. So, we detained them,” a police official informed while speaking to Republic TV.
The issue on which the entire protest was staged did not gain that much of an importance after the detainment of the protestors, however, it was found that the protestors belonged to ‘Gujarat Kshatriya Thakore Sena’, whose leader is the controversial Congress MLA from Radhanpur, Alpesh Thakor.
While marching and leading a group of protestors towards where Dilipkumar was seated, the Thakor sena clan which was led by the local leader Mukesh Thakor stated, “the BJP talks about beti bachao, beti padhao but their own MLA has tortured his daughter in law over having conceived a girl child. What kind of a leader does that? What example is he setting for the rest of them? He should be taken into custody right away.”
When contacted Jumaben Thakore (the daughter in law) said that everything was stated in the complaint and that her father in law (Dilipkumar Thakor) had shoved her out of the house because she and Dilipkumar’s son, Mitesh Thakor had conceived a girl and that he had ‘specifically asked for a boy’. A few months have passed after the complaint was registered against the BJP MLA.
