In a major development, BJP has pulled up its MP from Etawah, Ram Shankar Katheria, and he has been summoned by Rajnath Singh and BJP has demanded an explanation from him over the toll plaza incident. This comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi lashed out at Akash Vijayvargiya, son of top BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya. The step is a major move to show that the Centre will not tolerate any such action. However, sources also said that in his explanation, the MP said that he had nothing to do with the incident.

A case was filed against BJP lawmaker after his security staffs assaulted toll plaza employees in Agra on July 6. The video of the incident that was then widely circulated and shared by news agency ANI, the security staffs were seen manhandling the toll plaza staffs while Police was also present at the incident. While one of the staff is seen kicking and grabbing a staff by collar, another fires a gun shot in the argument.

BJP MP RS Katheria had said after the incident, "My security did not attack toll plaza employees, they first attacked my people. Toll employees did not know other cars were part of my convoy, they thought some other car is slipping through behind mine. My security guard only fired in self-defence."

In Indore, Madhya Pradesh, BJP MLA Akash Vijayvargiya was released from jail on bail and he brazenly stated that he has 'no regret' for the incident, trivialising the issue. He was charged under the sections IPC 353 147, 148. On last Wednesday, the MLA was caught going after the civic official with a bat and thrashing him. He also hurled abuses at him. The civic officials were in the district to bring down an illegal structure when Akash entered the scene and began the assault. When the police, who initially kept mum, intervened, Akash continued to assault the civic official, and even others joined in. He was arrested and then detained bail initially. BJP leader Rajeev Pratap Rudy said that Prime Minister said to all members that they must follow the discipline of the party: "PM Modi has always been concerned about it. He has always said that there should be no pride in the leaders or they should not behave in a way that harms the image of the party. It is not acceptable specially when you are people's representative. This is not for one but for everyone. He has expressed his viewpoint very clearly that such behaviour cannot be tolerated." he said.
