After senior Congress party leader Kamal Nath's dismissive response saying BJP has gone crazy with religious politics and WhatsApp politics, to the secret meeting video, broken by Republic TV on Wednesday, party MLA Randeep Singh Surjewala gave another similar statement after he was questioned about the video.
Speaking to reporters, the Congress leader on Thursday accused the BJP for dividing people on the basis of caste and religion. He went onto to assert that the BJP should be renamed as 'Bohot Jhooti Party (Big Liar Party).
"Whenever BJP is on the verge of losing the elections, it resorts to divisive politics on the basis of caste, religion and sectors. My dear friend Shobha Oza gave a statement during a press briefing and I really liked it. She said, Bharatiya Janata Party's name should be changed to 'Bohot Jhooti Video CD Party. I am begging you here, they will try to divert our attention, but they will not explain why farmers died. They will not answer to our questions," he said, addressing a news briefing.
Earlier on Thursday, when asked about the viral video, which had been recorded about 6 weeks ago during a closed-doors meeting, Kamal Nath said:
"They have gone crazy with religious politics. These people have come down to video and WhatsApp politics. I am not worried about this. The public is not going to believe it, the truth is bare before everyone."
Earlier, Republic TV had accessed a video of Kamal Nath where he had made a number of comments regarding the Congress' strategy to win the upcoming Madhya Pradesh elections.
While he also made controversial statements regarding the unimportance of the tribal vote for the Congress, and about how he didn't care if a candidate had 4-5 criminal cases against them so long as they can win, the statement that stood out was his insistence that "if the Congress doesn't get 90% of the Muslim votes, it would be destroyed".
