External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has become the target of vicious attacks of the social media trolls after her ministry cleared the passport of an interfaith couple. Even as, Swaraj has been dealing with trolls for days in her own way, her latest response to a troll has given netizens more reasons to praise her.
A troll dared Swaraj to block her on Twitter on Monday, saying, “I was once a fan and fought against those who abused you, ab aap please, mujhe bhi block kar ke, inaam dijiye. Intezaar rahega (Block me as well, reward me. I will wait for it).”
As soon as Swaraj saw the tweet, she gave a sassy reply, saying, “Intezaar kyon ? Lijiye block kr diya (Why wait. I am blocking you).”
Earlier, the EAM's husband Swaraj Kaushal tore apart a troll who targeted her with an abusive tweet. In an outrageous tweet, the man, whose Twitter profile mentioned him as one Mukesh Gupta - an alumnus of IIT Delhi, said the Union Minister should be “beaten up” for her “muslim appeasement.”
Kaushal slammed the troll while extolling Sushma Swaraj at the same time saying, “Your words have given us unbearable pain… Please do not use such words for her”.
EAM Sushma Swaraj has also created a poll on Twitter after the attack on her, asking: "This is happening for the last few days. Do you approve of such tweets ? Please RT."
Sushma Swaraj has been attacked by social media trolls after a Passport Seva Kendra official, Vikas Mishra, in Lucknow was transferred after a interfaith couple alleged that he humiliated them when they went to the office with their passport applications recently.
According to the couple, Mishra asked the husband to convert to Hinduism and pulled up the wife for marrying a Muslim.
A section of social media had attacked Swaraj and the ministry for taking action against Mishra, claiming that he was just doing his duty. Asked whether the Ministry of External Affairs is contemplating taking any action against the trolls, Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar had said, "The EAM (External Affairs Minister) has responded to those malicious tweets and the trolling which she was subjected to in her own way and in a manner which she deemed fit. I don't think I have anything further to add on that."
