Rohit Sharma after clinching T20 series: 'Bowlers won us the game'

After a convincing 30 run victory against Bangladesh in the final T20, Indian stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma credited the bowlers for their outstanding effort. The last T20 International match of the three-match series between India and Bangladesh was played at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur on Sunday, November 10. India defeated Bangladesh by 30 runs to take the series home. Man of the match, Deepak Chahar, took a hat-trick in this match with Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul helping with the bat. Deepak Chahar also took the world record for Best Bowling Figure in T20 International. Apart from Deepak, Shivam Dubey took three wickets.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Sharma heaped praises over the stellar performance of the bowlers asserting that the bowlers won the game for the team.

“It was the bowlers who won us the game. I know it was tough it was considering the dew factor. At one stage it was looking easy for them and things were looking tough for us. It was a great comeback. The boys took responsibility and raised their hands up. I just reminded them this is what we are playing for. I can understand when wickets are not falling, it’s hard to pick up. I just had to remind what team they’re playing for, credit to the bowlers,” said Rohit Sharma.

Shreyas Iyer finally made his first T20I fifty in the decider match between India and Bangladesh. At the same time, KL Rahul also notched up his half-century helping the team to get a defendable score. Lauding the batting performance, Sharma said.

“Also to the batsmen, the way Rahul and Iyer played, that was magnificent. That is what we want from the team, individuals taking responsibility. Until we get close to the World Cup, we got to find the right balance. There are a few guys missing, but they’ll come back.  If we keep performing like we did today, it’s going to be a big headache for Virat and the selectors,” he said.

Deepak Chahar first Indian to get hattrick In T20

Deepak Chahar set a new world record by becoming the first Indian to bag a hat trick and returning with best ever bowling by any cricketer in history with a six-wicket haul for just 7 runs in 3.2 overs. Chahar was easily the man of the match as India won the 3rd and final T20 match against Bangladesh by 30 runs and the series 2-1.
