BSF To Create Awareness About Drones Among The Border Population

The BSF is running an awareness campaign among the population near the international border in the Arnia sector about Pakistan's nefarious use of drones.

The Border Security Force (BSF) has started an awareness campaign to educate people in the border areas about the drones being sent by Pakistan. It has been witnessed that Pakistan had sent weapons in the Tarn Taran district of Punjab via a drone. The BSF has also been using the drones to keep a vigil on the international border. Republic went to the Arnia Sector in Jammu which lies near the international border, where such a campaign is being run. Speaking exclusively to Republic, a BSF official stated that they were advising the people to inform the BSF or the closest police station on spotting the drone. He also conceded that any country could use drones owing to technological advancements.

He said, “We are creating awareness among the border population. That, if they notice any such thing, that you should inform the BSF or you should inform the closest police station. So that we get information about this and we will be able to counter it.” The BSF official added, “With technological advancements, any enemy country can use drones against other countries.”

‘This was the first time we saw it’ 

According to one of the persons who participated in the awareness campaign, the BSF conducted a demonstration on the drone. He observed that this was the first time they saw a drone. The person recalled that the BSF warned them about Pakistan’s nefarious designs which they wanted to execute using the drone. This included transporting arms and ammunition. 

The person opined, “The BSF gave us a demo. That this is a drone. It is an instrument. This was the first time we saw it. There were many people like me who saw it for the first time. For the first time, they made us aware that Pakistan sends such drones to the international border. It uses them to click our pictures, structure our maps and if it is a big drone, it can carry arms and ammunition also.”

A young boy who witnessed the same reiterated that the BSF had told them to bring the sighting of a drone to their notice. 

“We saw a drone today. Our forces told us that Pakistan sends these drones and can throw weapons in an attempt to hurt us. They said that if you sight such a drone, you should inform us immediately,” he mentioned.
