Yogesh Raj went on to release a video in which he claimed innocence stating that he was not present at the violence site. In the video, Raj said:

"There were two incidents that happened on that day, the police is portraying me as though I have a history of crimes. The first incident happened in Siana where there was a cow slaughter, due to which I reached there with my supporters. The police also reached there and we went to the Siana police station. After reaching the police station, I found out that there was violence in a secret location and that there was firing too and that a youth and a police inspector were shot. I was not present in the location second incident. I have nothing to do with it. I have full faith in God that I will be cleared of accusation."

Earlier in December, the Uttar Pradesh Police arrested Armyman Jitendra Malik, another suspect in the killing of police inspector Subodh Kumar during Bulandshahr mob violence. Jitendra alias Jeetu Fauji was detained by the 22 Rashtriya Rifles in Sopore town in Jammu and Kashmir and was handed over to the Uttar Pradesh Police for further investigation
