Burglar Used Nizam's Stolen Gold Tiffin Box To Eat Food!

The Hyderabad police informed that one of the burglars used the tiffin box on a regular basis to eat food

The sensational robbery that took place at the Nizam's museum in Hyderabad on September 2, finally has been solved as the Police have arrested two individuals who were allegedly involved in the robbery. The Police department informed that the thieves, Mohammed Ghouse, and Mohammed Mubeen, escaped to Mumbai following the robbery and was residing in a luxury hotel before they were tracked down and taken into custody. The stolen items including the gem-studded gold tiffin box and the tea set were recovered from them. 

On September 2, the duo slipped into the museum at Purani Haveli in the old quarters of Hyderabad through a narrow ventilator shaft after removing the grill. They did impressive homework about the position of the CCTV cameras and the exact location of the valuable artefacts, to avoid getting caught. Although, they distraught the CCTV camera recorded a blurred clip of how the thieves got into the chamber and executed the deed. Both burglars, in their early 20s, are residents of Rajendranagar area in Ranga Reddy district, in the borders of Hyderabad. The police department further informed that both the offenders have had a previous criminal record for burglary and have been to prison several times.

Interestingly, the three-tier tiffin box which was originally gifted to the Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan was never used by him but the thieves left no chance to feel royal. The Hyderabad police informed that one of the burglars used the tiffin box on a regular basis to eat food. The Police further informed that the high-value antiques can fetch around Rs. 500 crores in the International market. The three-tiered tiffin box was made of 4 kg of gold and studded with rubies, diamonds, and emeralds itself can fetch over Rs. 100 crores, the police department stated. The gold cup and saucer weighing around 172 gm.

Among the 400 objects kept on display at the museum, most of the things were gifted to the Nizam during the silver jubilee of his coronation in 1937. The thieves also aimed to steal the precious gold covered Quran kept at the display, but as they were moving towards the casket, the early morning Azaan started and they dropped the idea of stealing the holy book considering it as a divine indication.
