Union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar has written to students affected by the CBSE paper leak, many of whom took to the streets on Thursday to hold protests. Taking to Twitter, Javadekar wrote:

Dear Students,
I fully understand your anguish, helplessness, anger and frustration. It is really painful that criminals do the wrong and the honest and brightest suffer. I can understand the pain & frustration of parents & children. Culprits will be nabbed soon and strict action will be taken. We are taking all measures to ensure that the exams remain fool-proof.

A short while earlier, Javadekar had addressed a news briefing where he had refrained from blaming the CBSE and had promised strict action against those responsible for the leaks. The Congress held a news briefing just after where it attacked the government over the matter. Meanwhile, students who are protesting at Delhi's Jantar Mantar claimed that it wasn't just the Class X Maths and Class XII Economics papers that were leaked.

On Wednesday, shortly after the Class X Mathematics exam ended, the CBSE had issued a statement saying it had decided to re-conduct the paper after receiving information that the exam had been compromised. It added that the Class XII Economics paper would also be reconducted. It hasn't yet announced a date for the re-examination. The decision was met with dismay and anger by students and parents alike.
