As the Indian women's hockey team won the FIH Series title, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra congratulated the team and said that the country is proud of them.

As the Indian women's hockey team won the FIH Series title, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra congratulated the team and said that the country is proud of them. She then shared a video of hockey team celebrating after the match.

Extending her best wishes to the team, Priyanka also said that it is a proud moment for India as now the girl's rugby team has also won bronze. She quoted, 'Chak De India' and praised the spirit of girls.

However, it also worked against them in the last minute of the match as Gurjit scored her second goal of the match through a penalty corner to make it 3-1 and wrap up the victory for India.  

Led by captain Rani Rampal the team recently beat Japan at the FIH Series Final on June 23. The win also booked a berth for the team in the final round of 2020 Olympics Qualifiers. A video posted by Hockey India on Twitter of the girls celebrating in the team bus has gone viral. In the face-off with Japan, Rampal opened the scoring with Gurjit Kaur scoring a brace.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi also congratulated the girls of the hockey team for their achievement and said that it was an exceptional match with an excellent outcome.
