ISRO also announced the date of Chandrayaan 2's soft landing on moon
"The lander will be separated from the orbiter and then it will be done with deboost manoeuvre to reduce the orbit from 100 to 35 km, 35 km onwards real dissent phase will start and in 15 minutes it will soft-land on the moon. It is a new system for all of us, there is new technology. The entire system is new. It is exciting."
"We have huge a number of emission operations like earthbound manoeuvre and lunar orbit manoeuvre and its timings are adjusted, so that landing timing is the same. The landing timing is sacrosanct for us as we want the landing to start at the beginning of the lunar day "
Announcing about the feat, the ISRO statement said: "Lunar Orbit Insertion (LOI) manoeuvre was completed successfully today (August 20, 2019) at 0902 hrs IST as planned, using the onboard propulsion system. The duration of manoeuvre was 1738 seconds. With this, Chandrayaan 2 was successfully inserted into a Lunar orbit. The orbit achieved is 114 km x 18072 km." The Chandrayaan 2 landing date next is September 7.
