Chandrayaan-2 Launch contrast: BJP lauds ISRO scientists, Congress hails Nehru, as India's Moon Mission enters orbit

Moments after ISRO's Chandrayaan-2 lifted off from Sriharikota and successfully injected into Earth Orbit, the BJP in a congratulatory tweet credited the scientists of ISRO for the 'historic mission'

Moments after ISRO's Chandrayaan-2 lifted off from Sriharikota and successfully injected into Earth Orbit, the BJP in a congratulatory tweet credited the scientists of ISRO for the 'historic mission'

The BJP tweeted 'Jai Hindi' and expressed their pride towards the scientists who have done the 'incredible'

On the contrary, the Congress party leveraged India's space mission to credit former Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru and Dr. Manmohan Singh, along with the scientists. In a tweet, the Congress credited Nehru for 'funding space research' through INCOSPAR in 1962, and then Singh for sanctioning the Chandrayaan-2 project in 2008.

ISRO launched its moon mission Chandrayaan-2, at the scheduled time of 2:43 PM on July 22 and moments after that tweeted about the successful injection of the 'Bahubali' into Earth's Orbit. This moon-lander and rover mission aims to investigate the unexplored south pole of the moon. With Chandrayaan-2 India aims at the soft landing on the Moon.

ISRO is undertaking an ambitious moon mission and said that the Moon is the closest cosmic body at which space discovery can be attempted and documented. Dubbed as the most challenging mission undertaken by the ISRO, Chandrayaan 2 is a continuation of India's space exploration programs. In the past, with Chandrayaan -1 and Mangalyaan, India has boosted its confidence and with Chandrayaan-2, it takes a lead to explore the unexplored. The main aim of the Chandrayaan 2 is to attempt to make a soft-land on the Moon's surface, the aim is to make lander -Vikram and rover- Pragyan in a high plain between two craters, Manzinus C and Simpelius N, at a latitude of about 70° south.
