In one of the most landmark moments for India’s space endeavours, the Indian Space Research Organisation successfully launched its second Lunar Mission, Chandrayaan-2 on Monday. As a celebratory atmosphere spread across the country, there were congratulatory messages from all and sundry.  Harbhajan Singh was also one of them. The veteran off-spinner shared that several countries had the moon on their flags, but India joined an esteemed list of countries who had flags on the moon. The 39-year-old's tweet, however, got a mixed response. While one section hailed his observation in praise of India’s mission, many were unhappy since the former category mocking Pakistan along with other countries.

Moments after the ISRO’s Chandrayaan-2 set off in style for the close to 50-day journey to the Moon from Sriharikota, Harbhajan tweeted, “Some countries have moon on their flags. While some countries having their flags on moon.”

While the latter category featured the flags of India, United States of America, China and Russia - countries which have launched successful Moon missions - the first one consisted of Pakistan, Algeria, Turkey, Maldives, Mauritania, Tunisia, Libya, Malaysia and Azerbaijan.

Bhajji got praises galore for his comment, many of them even sharing memes from movies.

However, some of them accused Bhajji of ‘bigotry' and others stating it was out of ‘hatred’. One of the users termed the tweet as ‘racist’ and raising how it didn’t suit a player of his stature. A few also pointed out that only Pakistan would’ve been fine, but some of the other countries could be our allies.
