Chennai rains: See list of roads, subways closed as floods batter Tamil Nadu capital

As Chennai on Thursday experienced heavy rainfall and crosswind, several roads and subways have been closed and routes have been changed due to waterlogging. The Chennai City Traffic situation has been updated in view of North East Monsoon Rainfall. 

Names of the Subways closed due to Waterlogging:

• Vyasarpadi Subway
• Ganeshapuram Subway
• Ajax Subway
• Gangu reddy Subway
• Madley Subway
• Duraiswamy Subway
• Palavanthangal Subway
• Tambaram Subway
• Aranganathan Subway
• Villivakkam Subway
• Kakhan Bridge Subway (2 Wheeler & Auto )

Road Closed:

• K.K Nagar - Raja Mannar Salai
• Mylapore - Sivaswamy Salai
• EVR Salai - Gandhi Irwin to Nair Point
• Sembium- Jawahar Nagar
• Peravallur - 70 Feet Road
• Pulianthope - Dr Ambedkar Road, Pulianthope High Road, Perambur
• Barracks Road, Tower Clock.
• Vyasarpadi - Mullai Nagar Bridge.
• Pallikaranai 200 feet Road - Kamatchi Hospital to Echangadu junction (MTC Buses Only Allowed)
• Chennai Fort Railway Station to Secretariat 

Traffic Arrangements:

• On M.R.H Road from Manjampakkam roundana towards Redhills, as the water is overflowing from Retteri Lake and running through M.R.H Road anticipating Damage/Caving of Road one side of the road is closed and the traffic is maintained on one side (Incoming & outgoing).
• Kumananchavadi Kundrathur Road's one side closed.

Road Damage:

On Thirumalaipillai Road in front of Kamarajar Illam, road caved in. Vehicles are not permitted towards Valluvarkottam junction from Vani Mahal junction. Traffic diverted at Vani Mahal - Benz park junction. Valluvarkottam towards Vani Mahal vehicles permitted on Thirumalaipillai road.

MTC Bus Diversion:

On Perambur Barracks Road near Astapujam Road due to road caving, MTC Buses from Doveton towards Pulianthope is diverted at Doveton to take the route via Bricklin Road, Strahans Road and proceed further. Similarly, Buses from Pulianthope towards Doveton diverted via Strahans Road, Bricklin Road, Purasaiwakkam High Road and to proceed further.

Tree Fallen:- (yet to be cleared):

• Washermenpet — M.C Road - 1 tree
• Washermenpet Cemetry Road - 1 tree
