Chhattisgarh Robbery: 4 men loot cash van, get caught within hours

Four robbers who have been accused of looting a cash van of SBI were caught within hours by the Police after the villagers started hurling stones at them

Chhattisgarh: Four robbers have been accused of looting a cash van seemingly belonging to State Bank of India. The van which was reportedly carrying close to Rs 1 crore was stopped within hours after it was stolen. The robbers were arrested within hours after getting caught. The incident which took place in the middle of the night was resolved as a consequence of the quick action taken by the police in the state.

"The incident took place at around 12 pm, a cash van was on its way to the ATM of the State Bank of India to deposit cash in Navagarh area. When the van reached a turn between Jhaal and Atariya villages, some armed men stopped looted the van," Director General of Police (DGP) Awasthi told ANI reporters in a statement.

"Within 15 minutes of the crime police the blockade was done and the police was posted at all districts related to a spot of crime. Under our 'janmitra yojana' we have connected people to all police stations via WhatsApp. Details of the vehicle were sent to all people," he added.

Chhattisgarh robbery resolved

The police notified the media that the van was located in one village. Upon seeing the villagers, the robbers fled the van and tried to escape from the area. The DGP also reported that villagers hurled stones at them in order to flag them down. The robbers eventually started firing but that no death was reported. It was also further reported that two of the robbers sustained injuries. The DGP added that all four criminals who were residents of Haryana have been arrested.
