Amid the dramatic developments in New Delhi, shortly after senior Congress leader P Chidambaram addressed the press briefing at the Congress HQ on Wednesday evening, the former Finance Minister reached his Jor Bagh residence in Delhi after the briefing. Arriving at his residence in his car, Chidambaram kept sitting in his car, while senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal got out of the car, spoke something to person behind the main gate, who eventually opened the gate. As soon as the gate of the residence, Chidambaram along with other Congress leaders went inside his Delhi residence.

However, on being questioned by the media outside his residence, Chidambaram, and other Congress leaders refused to speak.

Earlier, Chidambaram addressed a news briefing at the Congress HQ in Delhi where he maintained that neither he, his son Karti or any other member of his family have been accused of any offence in the INX Media case. He further claimed that there is no charge sheet filed by either ED or CBI before a competent court in the INX Media case.

"In the INX Media case, I have not been accused of any offence, nor is anyone else including any member of my family been accused in any offence. In fact, nor has any charge sheet filed by either the CBI or the ED before the court. The FIR recorded by the CBI does not impute to me any wrongdoing yet there is a widespread impression that grave offences have been committed and my son and I have committed those offences. Nothing can be further from the truth spread by pathological liars," he added.

Chidambaram case: Developments of Wednesday

Earlier on Wednesday, the Supreme Court registrar said that the hearing in the INX Media case will take place on Friday. P Chidambaram's counsel on Wednesday appealed to the apex court for interim relief from the arrest of the Congress leader after Delhi High Court rejected his anticipatory bail plea in the INX Media case. Even after Chidambaram's counsel urged the Chief Justice of India for the urgent hearing of the case, the CJI referred the case to the registrar who then said that the hearing will be on Friday.
