Chidambaram missing amid agencies' search, here's where he could be

Even as P Chidambaram remains untracable after CBI's lookout notice, top agency sources told Republic that Chidambaram most likely near his Jorbagh residence

Even as former union minister P Chidambaram remains untracable after CBI's lookout notice, top agency sources told Republic that Chidambaram is within 15-20 kilometres of his Jorbagh residence. Sources also told that he is most likely in Delhi. Moreover, sources have also informed Republic that the CBI is narrowing down the address of former finance minister Chidambaram. 

On Wednesday morning, Chidambaram's counsel moved to Supreme Court to seek interim relief from the arrest, after which the Chief Justice of India referred to the case to the registrar who will decide the bench of hearing the plea. Chidambaram's counsel has also challenged the Delhi High Court's order rejecting his anticipatory plea.

Meanwhile, Chidambaram's lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that Chidambaram is not an absconder as he was with him till 6:30 PM on Tuesday. He also alleged that "ít is prosecution or persecution."

While sources have said to Republic Media Network that former finance minister P Chidambaram is on the run, Republic has compiled the last two pictures of the leader before he went missing. As the Delhi High Court rejected the anticipatory bail plea of former Finance Minister P Chidambaram, and ED, CBI arrived at his residence, sources informed that he was not present there. Though he spent an hour at Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi's residence earlier, he was not present at his residence when the ED and the CBI teams went there, reportedly for his arrest for custodial questioning, if need be.

Chidambaram's Lawyer Asks CBI To Avoid Coercive Action after INX media case alleged involvement

After P. Chidambaram's alleged disappearance, in the latest development, the former Union Minister's counsel has appealed to the CBI to not take any coercive action after a bail denial in the INX Media case. 

Arshdeep Singh, the Congress leader's Counsel asked the CBI to not take any action until 10:30 AM on Wednesday in writing, saying that the plea will be mentioned before the Supreme Court at that time. 

He further said that the CBI notice did not mention the section under which Chidambaram is required to appear. On Wednesday morning, a 3- member team arrived at P. Chidambaram's residence to keep a close watch on the former Finance Minister's movement.

Delhi High Court rejects Chidambaram's anticipatory bail plea in INX Media case

Earlier on Tuesday, the Delhi High Court rejected the bail plea of Chidambaram in the INX media case. He had approached the court with an anticipatory bail plea in the corruption and money laundering case against him. During arguments in the court, both the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had opposed his plea on the ground that his custodial interrogation was required as he was evasive during questioning.
