The situation outside gate number five of the Rouse Avenue Court became chaotic after the supporters of former Union minister P Chidambaram, who had come with Karti Chidambaram, allegedly manhandled the cops. The supporters wanted to go inside the court through gate number five which allows only vehicle entry.

They were stopped by the security personnel, including police officials but this agitated them further. First, they indulged in a war of words with the police officials and later went on manhandling them. This went on for around ten minutes.

Judicial Custody

P Chidambaram, the former Finance and Home Minister was produced before the Rouse Avenue Court after the expiration of his judicial custody. His supporters had gathered to show their solidarity towards him. On each date of hearing, they come and raise slogans against the Modi government and in favour of Congress and P Chidambaram. On Thursday,  the security agencies had received inputs that P Chidambaram could have been attacked. They emptied the entire courtroom where arguments were about to be heard and checked everything to make sure no untoward incident takes place.

The security personnel were deployed all around the court complex. When P Chidambaram supporters gathered outside the court, they were told to take entry through gate number six but they insisted on taking the entry from gate number five. Security personnel tried to stop them but they didn't stop and instead manhandled them.

Report sent to police

A police source said that a report regarding the incident was sent to senior police officials and now everything is on them to decide the future course of action.

"Today P Chidambaram was produced before the court from Tihar Jail and when he was being taken back his supporters gathered at gate number 5 of the court and tried to go inside. This gate is only for vehicle entry. When they were stopped they misbehaved with cops," the source said quoting a report which was sent to a senior police official.

Earlier the security personnel had a tough time dealing with the supporters of DK Shivakumar when he was being produced. They were asked to leave the courtroom. A security official, on the condition of anonymity, said that they were fed up with the supporters of the political leaders as they don't care about anything and clash with them over no issue.
