Chief of the Naval Staff visits Andaman outpost, reviews preparedness

Navy chief Admiral Karambir Singh reviewed the operational preparedness at INS Baaz, a remote outpost in the south, at Campbell Bay in the archipelago on Friday. He also spent the day with the security personnel stationed at various units in Campbell Bay, Greater Nicobar. During his visit, the Navy Chief highlighted issues related to Operational Readiness, Capability Enhancement, the requirement of three aircraft carriers, the increasing mandate of the Indian navy in the IOR.
Navy Chief extends Diwali greetings
The Navy Chief also extended warm greetings and best wishes to the personnel and their families on the occasion of Diwali, Navy officials said.

'Andaman Nicobar islands important for National Security'
The Navy Chief said that the Andaman Nicobar islands were strategically important for national security and would provide the critical capability to monitor sea areas in the region, during his interaction and appreciated contribution and efforts made by INS Baaz, towards ensuring maritime security in the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea to enhance Indian Navy's surveillance capabilities in the region.
On October 24, Admiral Karambi Singh also addressed the Naval Commanders' Conference, which commenced on October 22. In his address, Admiral Karambi Singh highlighted issues related to Operational Readiness, Capability Enhancement, the requirement of three aircraft carriers, the increasing mandate of the Indian navy in the IOR (Indian-Ocean Rim Association). During the interactions, issues pertaining to the use of harnessing the emerging technology into, Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Analysis into the Indian Navy were discussed at length.

Admiral Karambir Singh takes charge as new Navy chief
Admiral Karambi Singh also took charge as the new Navy Chief on Friday, to replace incumbent Sunil Lanba. The Army spokesperson further confirmed this in a tweet.
