China scrambles second statement on Pulwama terror attack, continues preachy charade while shielding Pakistan and Masood Azhar

China has issued yet another statement on the Pulwama terror attack, expressing condolences that continue to come across as hollow on account of its insistence on shielding its terror-friendly 'all-weather-friend' Pakistan, and specifically, Jaish-e-Mohammad chief Masood Azhar.

China has issued yet another statement on the Pulwama terror attack, expressing condolences that continue to come across as hollow on account of its insistence on shielding its terror-friendly 'all-weather-friend' Pakistan, and specifically, Jaish-e-Mohammad chief Masood Azhar.

China's latest statement reads as follows:

"On February 15th 2019, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi sent a condolence message to his Indian counterpart External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on the suicide attack in Kashmir.

In the message, Wang Yi said he was shocked to learn that a suicide attack was carried out in Kashmir and heavy casualties were caused, he would like to, on behalf of the Chinese Government, express deep sympathy to the families of the victims and sincere condolences to the injured.

Wang Yi stressed that terrorism is the common enemy of mankind. The Chinese side resolutely opposes and strongly condemns all forms of terrorism. Countries in the region should enhance cooperation, jointly address the threat of terrorism and maintain regional peace and security."

China's second statement echoes a lot of was said in the first, though the earlier one had carried a Q&A on China's stand against the listing of Masood Azhar - believed to be the one who gave orders to conduct the Pulwama terror attack - as a global terrorist by the United Nations Security Council.

On this, spokesman of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Geng Shuang, had said, "As for the issue of listing, I could tell you that the 1267 Committee of Security Council has a clear stipulation on the listing and procedure of the terrorist organisations. JeM has been included in the Security Council terrorism sanctions list. China will continue to handle the relevant sanctions issue in a constructive and responsible manner"

China, a veto-wielding member of the UNSC, has repeatedly foiled India's bid to list Azhar as a global terrorist, saying there is no consensus in the top organ of the world body on this issue. The Pulwama attack statements come at a time when India had begun meetings with diplomatic missions and personnel of numerous countries after having resolved to isolate Pakistan at the global stage. A number of countries have expressed their support for India over the attack, however, with the US slamming Pakistan for continuing to support terror activities from its soil, and Russia's President Vladimir Putin offering to enhance cooperation with India on countering terrorism.

Pakistan, on the other hand, has remained brazen after the attack, despite union minister Arun Jaitley confirming that there was incontrovertible evidence of its hand behind the strike. In its statement, Pakistan provoked India and said the attack had taken place in 'Indian Occupied Kashmir'.

40 CRPF Jawans were martyred on Thursday as the convoy they were travelling in, on the Jammu-Srinagar highway, was attacked by a suicide bomber in an explosives-laden car. It was the worst terror attack on the forces in many decades.
