Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) of District Women hospital in Gonda, Dr AP Mishra, started a unique initiative on sanitation in the region. The residents of Gonda pledged not to litter in their vicinity and follow the Swachh Bharat Mission started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "All those seen spitting in public will have to pay a fine of Rs. 200", said Dr AP Mishra.
