Bengaluru District Youth Congress General Secretary Mohammad Harris Nalapad, who brutally thrashed a man in a Bengaluru pub, surrendered on Monday. Here are 5 key points about the case:
Mohammad Harris Nalapad, son of Congress Shanthinagar MLA NA Harris, and 10 of his friends allegedly assaulted a man, identified as Vidwat, at a restaurant in Bengaluru's UB City, following which Nalapad was expelled from the party for six years. Police said Mohammad and his friends beat up the man at the restaurant on Saturday night after they felt offended over him extending his feet, cast in plaster, towards the table they were sitting at. Police registered an FIR against Nalapad and his friends. Vidwat, the victim has been admitted to Mallya hospital and is being treated in the ICU.

2. HARRIS DEFENDS HIS SON:
Defending his son, MLA Harris, who is a two time MLA from Shanthinagar and is said to be close to CM Siddaramaiah, described the unfortunate event as ‘a fight between two friends’. "They're friends and both of them were involved in a brawl. I'm hurt by the incident. I scolded my son after I got to know about the incident and ever since he has switched off his phone and not returned home,” said NA Harris. “We cannot just go by the complainant's version of the story. 3. WHAT CM SIDDARAMAIAH SAID:
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah tweeted that offenders should be punished to the "full extent of law". "Offenders should be punished to the full extent of law regardless of who they are. No less, no more. @CPBlr will take action as per law and bring the guilty to book."
4. COP SUSPENDED

5. NALAPAD SURRENDERS:
Mohammad Harris Nalapad surrendered on Monday. Prior to his surrender, the Congressman was reportedly hiding in a 5-star Bengaluru hotel as the police failed to trace him even as 24 hours passed after the incident.
