Even as Congress party continues to oppose the abrogation of Article 370, it seems that it remains divided over its opinion on the abrogation. While Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi in a press conference on Sunday said that Article 370 was abrogated keeping in view the assembly elections, former chief minister of Haryana Bhupinder Singh Hooda said he was always in favour of Article 370.

On Sunday, Abhishek Manu Singhvi in Congress press conference said: "In every meeting and public rally they talk about 370 sometimes we feel that it is done for the election purpose. Whatever you did is done a deal. But constantly glorifying it is exposing your intention anyway."

Whereas, on Sunday while addressing a public meet, Bhupinder Singh Hooda said: "I supported 370, because what is right for the country I always support that. I supported 370 because soldiers fighting there are from Haryana. But the government shouldn't play vote bank politics over it. Hooda's comment a shock to the Gandhi family as he is said to be close to the Nehru- Gandhi family. However, the Congress party has been opposing the decision with their leaders towing Pakistan's line.

Abrogation of Article 370

The Narendra Modi government on August 5 abrogated Article 370 and bifurcated the state of Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories namely Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh. With the Article 370 no longer at place, the special status thus provided to the state of Jammu and Kashmir ended making it a major day in the history marking the integration of the state with the rest of India.
