In a fresh controversy for Congress national president Rahul Gandhi, the Congress welcomed Vyapam scam accused Gulab Singh Kiran within the party on Tuesday, ahead of the Madhya Pradesh polls. This has come a day after Rahul Gandhi attacked Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and his family over their involvement in the Vyapam scam.
While the Congress posted a tweet welcoming Gulab Singh Kirar with two other BJP MLAs namely, Sanjay Sharma and Kamlapat Arya in the party on Tuesday night, it was found deleted after some time.

“In the presence of Congress president Rahul Gandhi BJP MLA from Tendukheda Sanjay Sharma, ex-MLA Kamlapat Arya and Gulab Singh Kirar got membership of the Congress. Welcome to Congress family,” read the now-deleted tweet from the official Twitter handle @INCMP posted on Tuesday.

Here is the now deleted tweet:

According to sources, MP Jyotiraditya Scindia solicited Gulab Singh Karar’s entry within the Congress party, while some of the senior party members have expressed dissatisfaction with the joining of Kirar.

Earlier, BJP suspended Dr Gulab Singh Kirar from the party after he and his son Shakti Singh Kirar were exposed in the Vyapam scam. Furthermore, a Special Investigation Unit (SIT) had also filed a case against and his son Shakti Pratap Singh on July 16, 2014. The cases were registered under Section 419, 420, 488, 467, 120 B, 3-4 examination act and 13 (1) D. The case is currently being investigated by the CBI.

Apparently, Dr Kirar remained absconding for several months in order to escape from being arrested in the case. However, during the same time, he was seen sharing a public forum with Madhya Pradesh CM and BJP leader Shivraj Singh Chouhan after which Congress party had also dubbed Kirar of having close ties with CM Shivraj Chouhan and BJP government.

Here is Congress MP Digvijaya Singh's tweet from September 2016, alleging Gulab Singh Kirar for having close relations with Shivraj Chohan:
