Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit on Sunday made an outrageous statement insulting the Indian Army chief General Bipin Rawat.

The comments have drawn ire from people across the country, and other political parties are now coming out and saying that Sandeep Dikshit should immediately be sacked from the Congress.

"People will never forgive Congress. This has been initiated by Rahul Gandhi after his remark of 'khoon ki dalali'. Sonia Gandhi should come out and apologize. Sandeep Dikshit should be expelled from the party," said BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra.

Another BJP leader GVL Narasimha Rao, says that this is a conspiracy by the Congress to demoralize the Indian Army. "Sandeep Dikshit’s statements are extremely condemnable and this is a conspiracy by Congress to demoralize the Indian Army and help Pakistan. It is a well-thought-out conspiracy. All the leaders involved are cordial with Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. Congress has shown that they are with the anti-nationals," Narasimha said.

Republic contributor Major Gaurav Arya, says that failing politicians make statements like these to revive their careers.

"It has become a practice for two-penny politicians to insult the Army Chief in order to resurrect their failing careers," he says.

TR Kakkar, Republic Contributor on Law and Order and Internal Security, believes that Dikshit is just trying to prove his loyalty to his party. "Sandeep Dikshit has proved to be a third rate politician and has made a mischievous statement against the Indian Army chief to prove his loyalty to his Congress bosses. Congress must condemn his mischievous statement and expel Dikshit from the party if it has any respect for our army. General Rawat is one great general who has by his statements raised the sagging morale of our men in uniform," says Kakkar.

The Congress Party also seems to be distancing itself from Sandeep Dikshit. "It is a condemnable act and Congress believes that it is not right to say such things about the Army. The Congress party respects Indian Army and It is hurtful if such statements have been said for Army Chief," party spokesperson Meem Afzal said.

This is what Brigadier(Retd.) Ponwar, Republic Contributor on Internal Security & Terrorism had to say about Sandeep Dikshit's comments:

"Mr Dikshit's Slanderous statement on our Army Chief is atrocious, downmarket, the individual requires psychiatric treatment. He should be expelled from the Congress and the Congress Vice President needs to apologise for Dikshit's low down behavior."
