Congress has launched a statewide movement against BJP in Maharashtra. In a third phase of “Jan Aakrosh rally” senior leaders of Congress have taken out a march against Modi government in Latur district of Maharashtra. During the Jan Aakrosh rally, Congress leaders met many distressed farmers and locals as they tried to understand their ordeal. After meeting the locals, senior Congress leaders addressed a huge rally in which they targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party government in state and centre. While addressing the gathering, leader of Congress in Lok Sabha and in charge of Maharashtra Congress, Mallikarjun Kharge said:

“15 thousand farmers have died under this government rule but Prime Minister Narendra Modi has never come to Maharashtra to hear the pain & grief of the distressed farmers. Since the day he (Narendra Modi) came to power, he has brought our country on the path of destruction. From day one he has not done anything except lying. Black money, 15 lakhs in every account, 2 crore jobs and many such promises he had made but never fulfilled it. Modi is the Sardar of liars. Under the rule of Modi government, these people have been trying hard to destroy the constitution of India, attempts have been made to wipe out the democracy. Our constitutional institutions are in danger. Whatever I do say will be the law & whatever I will say will become a rule, this is what the style of prime minister Modi ”.

Former Home Minister of India, Sushil Kumar Shinde also launched a scathing attack on BJP. He said:

"BJP will be defeated in upcoming Lok Sabha elections. During the time of Atal Bihari Vajpayee government, few analysts had said that Congress will not come to power for the next 20 years. Like today’s government, Vajpayee also ran India shining campaign but did not able to save the government".

There was a time when Maharashtra was the citadel of Congress but after a humiliating defeat in 2014 Lok Sabha election, Congress kept losing its grip over the state. To regain Maharashtra, which is also economically and agriculturally powerful state, Congress president Rahul Gandhi has appointed Mallikarjun Kharge as in charge of the state. During Jan Aakrosh rally, Congress leaders will visit many areas of Marathwada where farmers are in distress due to low rainfall.
