Crocodile rescued from residential area in UP, citizens relieved

Police rescued a crocodile from a residential area in UP after residents complained. They gave the animal to the forest officials, who released it in the river.

Police on September 21 said a crocodile was rescued from a residential area in Shahjahanpur, in Naya Ganj district of Uttar Pradesh. The rescue operation took place on September 20, reported ANI. The crocodile was lying in the residential area when the residents saw it and immediately called the police. The police came to their rescue and gave the animal to the forest officials, who released him into the river.

Crocodile Alert 

The reptile was spotted when some people went out for a morning walk and they saw a crocodile in the locality.

Inspector, Yavendra Singh told ANI, "As we received the information about a crocodile in a residential area, a team of police immediately reached the spot. We were able to rescue the crocodile and later we gave it to the forest officials." "The forest officials have released the reptile into the river," he added.

Earlier Instances 

Earlier, similar incidents had occurred in Karnataka and Gujarat.

In Karnataka, a ten-feet long Crocodile was spotted on the top of a house in Chicali town of Rayabaga taluka of Belgaum district in Karnataka on July 11. This was in the midst of pounding rains which had created a flood-like situation in the state. In a similar incident in Vadodara In Gujarat, a humongous crocodile was found loitering on the streets and after a deal of difficulty and physical strain, the reptile was captured by the NDRF Team in Gujarat. 

In another similar scenario, a crocodile came out of a flooded river and crawled into a house at a village near Madhya Pradesh, causing panic among local residents. According to Ghat-Pipariya sarpanch Rohit Jain, the huge reptile entered the house of one Kandhi Lal on Sunday night when it was raining heavily, creating panic among his family members and other residents of the village.

The sight of a crocodile is not only a source of hysteria among the public but also poses a threat to the lives of humans and animals.
