Cylinder blast in car on Srinagar-Jammu highway

A blast has occurred near Jawahar Tunnel in Banihal on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway on Saturday.

A blast has occurred near Jawahar Tunnel in Banihal on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway on Saturday. As per sources, the blast took place in a Santro car during when a CRPF convoy of security forces was passing through the area.

No casualties have been reported so far. 

CRPF sources say the prima facie blast in the car seems to be a cylinder explosion, CRPF convoy was at a significant distance from the explosion site, does not appear to be an attack, news agency ANI reported.

Police said it was a cylinder blast that occurred inside a private Santro car at Tethar, destroying the vehicle.

The car in which the blast took place is completely damaged, however, the CRPF vehicle has received only minor damages. While the driver of the car is still missing, the investigation is still underway.
