Delhi: Make-up artist who helped man impersonate 81-year-old arrested

Days after a 32-year-old man was apprehended by CISF for impersonating an 81-year-old man at the Delhi airport, the police arrested the make-up artist.

Days after a 32-year-old man was apprehended by CISF for impersonating an 81-year-old man at the Delhi airport, the police on Sunday has arrested the make-up artist who allegedly the modified the appearance of a 32-year-old man. The police stated that the make-up artist allegedly had modified appearances of as many as 10 people at the direction of agents who are involved in forging passports and identities of air passengers. The make-up artist has been identified as Shamsher Singh alias Billu Barber, and is a resident of Rohini, Delhi. The 42-year-old accused was arrested, following the disclosure made by Jayesh Patel, the man who disguised as an 81-year-old man at Delhi airport on September 8.

As per senior police officials, Ahmedabad resident Jayesh Patel wanted to go to the US for employment but when thought that he will not be granted a visa, he took the help of agents and planned to leave the country by impersonating an octogenarian, Amrik Singh. Disguising himself as an 81-year-old man, Jayesh Patel was able to get the Immigration Clearance, but was later caught by the CISF following suspicion. During the course of investigation, Jayesh Patel revealed the make-up artist helped him to modify his appearance in order to conceal his real identity by colouring his hair.

Con man arrested

On September 8, the CISF informed that the 32-year-old man impersonating as an 81-year-old man was arrested while he was travelling from India to New York by using a fake passport. The man was apprehended by CISF personnel at the Delhi airport for impersonating as an octogenarian passenger. He had dyed his hair and arrived on a wheelchair to board the flight. CISF officials had stated that the passenger looked suspicious to the officials when they were doing the frisking duty when he expressed his inability to stand up from the wheelchair.
