Delhi Police arrests two alleged ISIS terrorists

Delhi Police arrested two individuals, having alleged links with ISIS, on Thursday night from the Jama Masjid bus stop near Red Fort

The special cell of Delhi Police has arrested two individuals having alleged links to the ISIS in the national capital. Pervez and Jamshed, both hailing from Kashmir, were caught hold by the officials from the Jama Masjid bus stop near Red Fort in Delhi while they were heading to Jammu & Kashmir from Uttar Pradesh. The two have been taken into a five-day remand by the authorities.

Speaking about their arrests, the DGP of Delhi Police special cell said, "Delhi Police Special Cell arrested 2 terrorists last night from Jama Masjid bus stop near Red Fort. Two pistols, 10 cartridges and four mobile phones seized from them.They had acquired weapons from UP & were going to Kashmir. Weapons were to be used for terrorist activities.

"Delhi was not a part of their plan, they were just in transit here. They told us that the leader of the outfit (ISJK) is Umar Ibn Nazir and the number 2 leader is Adil Thokar. They were following the orders of Adil Thokar."

Further, the official mentioned that the accused caught had affiliation to Islamic State Jammu & Kashmir (ISJK), a group created based on the ideology of ISIS. "We arrested Parvez and Jamsheed. They are members of an outfit called ISJK. Brother of Parvez was gunned down in an encounter with security forces in January, he was initially a member of Hizbul Mujahideen & later joined ISJK," the DGP further added.

It is reported that the duo were about to board a bus home from Delhi when they were nabbed at around 10:45 PM on Thursday. One of the accused in this case, Parvez is presently doing MTech from Gajrola in Uttar Pradesh. Further, he is the brother of a terrorist, who was shot dead by forces in an encounter in Shopian earlier this year.

As for Jamshed, he is a diploma student presently in his final year. He reportedly had facilitated the Mohammed Abdullah Basith's movement, who was caught hold by the NIA. It was the second trip to the national capital for the duo. Earlier this year, they went to Kashmir from Amroha, UP.
