Delhi Police Gets Smart Upgrade, Mobile Picketing Van Ready To Roll

The Delhi police launched two mobile picket vans on Friday, equipped with state-of-the-art features to prevent crime and patrol the streets more efficiently

The Delhi Police launched two mobile picketing vans on Friday in order to keep a close check on criminal activities. According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Gaurav Sharma, the initiative was taken as a measure to manage resources better.  Routinely placing barricades on lonely stretches also adds the possibility of them getting stolen, he said. To avoid these risks, the Delhi Police has decided to launch these mobile picketing vans. Equipped with hi-tech features, the vans were launched by the Delhi Commissioner of Police, Amulya Patnaik during the inauguration of outer-North Deputy Commissioner's office in Samaipur Badli.

Hi-tech mobile picket vans for Delhi

According to the police, each van is designed to keep criminal activities in check, considering vast areas of the district is sparsely populated, the vans could be it could come as an element of surprise. The mobile picketing vans come equipped with barricades, anti-terror and anti-riot gears installed in them. Along with this, they have other automated equipment that will help the police personnel to act quickly during cases of robbery and snatching. The Tempo vehicles under their disposal are still available at the station. and are currently being remodeled to make them into similar picket vans. In a tweet, the outer-North DCP stated that the vans will help control crime.

Inauguration of DCP Outer-North office

The DCP inaugurated the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Outer North office complex at Delhi's Samaipur Badli police station on Friday. It is intended to enhance police strength and visibility in the area. Earlier, in January this year the Delhi police Outer North district was carved out of North West and Rohini districts. Speaking about the facility, the DCP said the new office will have modern facilities, a visitors' lounge and a conference hall. After the innaguration, DCP Patnaik appreciated public cooperation and praised the task force for their innovations and added that it will give them visibility in strategically significant areas.
