Hyatt Regency, the hotel outside which the son of former BSP MP and brother of present BSP MLA, Ashish Pandey misbehaved and threatened a couple with a gun, has released a statement on the incident. Maintaining that the hotel 'security of guests is the primary concern', their statement read:
At Hyatt Regency and Hyatt Hotels and Resorts across the world, the safety and security of our guests is our primary concern. To that end, we employ a wide range of physical security measures and security protocols customized to the needs and the environment in which each hotel is operating. We take the incident that occurred at Hyatt Regency Delhi on seriously and have been working with the local police authorities on the same. We assure our support and we will continue to fully cooperate with the authorities in reference to any further investigation on this matter."
The incident, which occurred on Saturday morning at 3:40, saw an individual named Ashish Pandey brandish a gun and threaten a couple outside the hotel premises. It was then followed by friends of Ashish abusing the couple. Investigation into this matter began on Tuesday, and many shocking details were ascertained against the son of former BSP MP.
As per the sources, the probe that has been initiated into the incident ascertained that the matter began with Gaurav, a friend of main-accused Ashish, taking another of their friends, a woman, to the women's restroom at the hotel as she was feeling nauseous. When Gaurav took her in, there were already three women inside. They took exception to Gaurav being there following which an argument broke out.
Shortly after, Ashish entered the fray and joined the argument, as did male friends of the women inside. The argument got heated, and a little while after that, Pandey allegedly brandished the gun.
Interestingly, the video of the incident which has gone viral seems to have been recorded by a friend of Pandey from inside his car. The car, which is of a high-end make, is also purportedly where he had kept his pistol.
The Delhi Police, in a briefing on the matter, said that they took suo moto cognisance of the incident as nobody made any complaint. Two police teams have been dispatched, one to find the accused, the other to find his friends. The hotel staff has also been called in to give their statements. The UP police has been contacted and authorities have been approached to ensure Pandey doesn't flee the country.
