Just hours after Home Minister Rajnath Singh delivered a cryptic message on surgical strike anniversary, sources have told Republic TV that more than half a dozen pick points of the Pakistani rangers spread across four different sectors have been decimated by the Border Security Force. As per sources, though the heavy mortar shelling initiated from the Indian side was not to the effect of a surgical strike, the artery and mortar firing have resulted in heavy casualties at the Pakistani side.

While addressing a gathering earlier in the day, Rajnath Singh issued a cryptic statement on the surgical strike anniversary and said:

“Our neighbouring country Pakistan keeps fostering unrest. It’s not refraining from its nefarious activities. People often raise how they mistreat our Border Security Force jawans. Something has happened, I won’t tell what. Something has happened, some thing fitting has happened. Trust something befitting has happened. Just 2-3 days ago. Some people know about it. Something has happened. And, be ready for more to come.”

Rajnath Singh’s statement and the retaliation by the BSF has come in the wake of brutality perpetrated by Pakistan on a BSF soldier. On September 19, mutilated body of the BSF jawan was found with  three bullet wounds and with his throat slit. The Pakistani troops have slit the throat of a BSF jawan after fatally shooting him along the international border (IB) near Jammu.

The brutal and "unprecedented" incident that took place in the Ramgarh sector on Tuesday has prompted the security forces to issue a "high alert" across the IB and Line of Control (LoC) even as the Border Security Force (BSF) had lodged a strong complaint with its counterparts -- the Pakistan Rangers.

BSF's retaliation comes days after Indian Army Chief Bipin Rawat's stern message to Pakistan, saying "it will be punished when the time comes".

In an exclusive to Republic TV, the Army chief said, "I have said there are options available, and what options can be undertaken are always planned and the execution when necessitated will be done. These kind of barbaric acts which are carried out by the terrorists are completely supported by the Pakistani Army and the ISI.
