Diesel - Dog who fought plastic on Mumbai's beaches - passes away

Afroz Shah, the man behind Mumbai's largest beach clean-up drive, expressed his grief over the demise of Diesel who helped him clean Versova beach

Afroz Shah, the man behind Mumbai's largest beach clean-up drive at the Versova beach expressed his grief over his dog friend- Diesel who helped him and his team in the clean up - passing away. According to Shah, whenever Diesel would see any plastic on the beach, he would run and pick it up. Diesel passed away on Tuesday night at the Versova beach. 

Netizens express condolences

Several people have expressed their grief over Diesel's death. Some Netizens have also called the dog 'a Hero', while others have stated that animals have a much better way of showing care about the environment.

Suggestion for a banner

According to one of the volunteers from the beach clean-up drive, he urged Shah to put up a banner with Diesel helping them to clean the beach. He also suggested a slogan that says, "If animals can, why not human?"

Afroz Shah, a young Indian lawyer from Mumbai and an environmental activist is responsible for the city's largest Versova beach clean-up drive. Shah has been conducting regular clean-up drives where several people join him as volunteers. Shah calls it 'a date with the ocean'.
