Following the assault of civic officials by BJP MLA Akash Vijayvargiya on Wednesday, senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh lambasted BJP for the leader's behavior.

In an incident where the son of senior BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya, Akash Vijayvargiya publicly thrashed the civic authorities with a cricket bat, the former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh asserted that BJP has 'no faith in rule, law nor the constitution'

He said: Akash Vijayvargiya: "We are taught in the BJP - first application, then request and then Danadan" Is it not clear that the BJP has no faith in the rule, not on the law, nor the Constitution?

In the aftermath of the incident, Vijayvargiya brazenly has remained unapologetic over the incident. Taking a tough stand, the Indore sessions court on Wednesday denied him bail in the case.

He is set to remain in jail till July 11, as per sources but he is also reportedly going to apply for bail on Thursday.

In stark contrast, Vijayvargiya's lawyer has rubbished the evidence of the case filed against Akas calling the arrest itself 'questionable'.

"Police has filed a false case against Akash Vijayvargiya who is an MLA of Indore constituency in the court. We had filed for baila against these false accusations which have been rejected by the court now. We have applied to the district judge against this rejection. The evidence based on which the bail was rejected is false and the circumstances under which the arrest was made is questionable," he said.

He also added that it was an MLA's right to question officials' harassing constituents.

"If someone demolishes a property without any notice, the local MLA has the right to question the act. The manner in which these officials harassed the women is shameful. Under such conditions, can't an MLA question the authorities?" he asked.

On Wednesday, five hours after Republic broke the story of Bengal BJP chief Kailash Vijayawargiya's son Akash Vijayvargiya beating the government official with bats, Police in Indore arrested him.
