Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Kedarnath on the occasion of Diwali to offer prayers at the Himalayan Shrine and review Kedarpuri reconstruction projects. This is going to be Prime Minister Modi's 10 visit to Uttarakhand since 2014.

To share the warmth of togetherness and the exhilaration of the festivities, the Prime Minister of India is gratifying Kedarnath with his presence for Diwali 2018. Over the course of four years, he has gone around the country to celebrate the festival. Take a look at his earlier Diwali celebrations around the country: 

2017 Diwali
PM Modi’s Diwali last year, in 2017 was with the Indian Army and Border Security Forces near the Line of Control in North Kashmir’s Gurez sector. Together with Army Chief Bipin Rawat and other officials, PM proffered sweets to the personnels. He even advised the force on the border to perform Yoga, that he affirmed would enhance their ability and aid them to seek a sense of calm. 

2016 Diwali
Making this a ritual with his third consecutive year, PM Modi visited a remote area in Himachal Pradesh, neighbouring the Chinese border to celebrate the festival of light.  He interacted with people from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), the Dogra Scouts and the Army at Sumdoh. On his visit in 2016, he even met the personnel of the General Reserve Engineering Force (GREF), a wing of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) that maintain highways at Sumdoh. Along with that PM even spent time with the locals in Chango village in Kashmir district. 

2015 Diwali
Tailing the traditions of 2014, even in the year after PM Modi celebrated Diwali with troops on India-Pakistan border in Punjab. He even paid homage as he visited the Dograi War Memorial in Khasa in Amritsar on . He placed a wreath at the place that has witnessed one of the toughest wars fought by the Defence Force on September 22, 1965. 

014 Diwali
Going back in time, his first year as the Prime Minister, Modi made a surprise visit to Saichen to spend his Diwali with the jawans and officers of the Indian Armed Forces at Siachen Base Camp at the height of over 12,000 feet. Addressing the officials, he hailed their valour and fortitude for guarding the borders and sacrificing the celebrations while 125 crore Indians celebrate Diwali with their kin in comfort and peace. On his visit, he even lauded the role of the defence force in combating Kashmir floods through their relief and rescue.
