Dr Nikisha Jariwala's model for blind; converts languages to braille

A professor from Gujarat Dr Nikisha Jariwala has successfully invented a model to help visually impaired people have access to knowledge by translating the text

A professor from Gujarat Dr Nikisha Jariwala has successfully invented a model to help visually impaired people have access to knowledge by translating the text of Hindi, English and Gujarati language to Braille language.

The invention converts languages into braille

This model which converts Hindi, English and Gujarati text into Braille language has been made by the professor. "With the help of this model, the visually impaired will be able to easily communicate with everyone and pursue normal education as the model will be able to convert Hindi, English and Gujarati text into Braille. Not only texts but the model will also convert drawings and mathematical equations, and text to speech as well," she told ANI.

The model will be a boon for visually impaired students

The professor completed her Ph.D. in four and a half years and learned braille. She said that there are plenty of digital documents which cannot be accessed by the visually impaired students but with the help of the new model which she invented while pursuing her Ph.D., the visually impaired students will be able to read the content available online. Her model has been praised by the students saying that the model helps them read documents such as newspapers, etc, by themselves, whereas earlier their teachers used to read the newspapers for them. She says that the invention will be a boon for the visually impaired.

Nikisha who is a Professor at a Women's College said that she has worked day and night on this invention. She invented this model while doing her PhD on the topic of "Design and Development of the model to transliterate digitalized multilingual text into braille and speech - an aid for visually impaired people".
