Dr. Swamy to file PIL seeking CBI SIT into Sunanda Pushkar murder

BJP leader Dr. Subramanian Swamy has said that he will be filing a PIL seeking a CBI-SIT into Sunanda Pushkar murder.  "Next week @Ish_Bhandari & I will be filling PIL, for CBI SIT to prosecute Shashi Tharoor & co for murder of Sunanda since it is int'l crime (sic)" tweeted Dr. Swamy.

The announcement comes as a big development in the controversial case, which has also been pursued by Republic TV with a series of stings and exposes.

In a Super Exclusive, Republic TV exposed 19 tapes which revealed discrepancies in versions put out by Shashi Tharoor and what is man-Friday Narain said. 

Delhi police notings in possession

Republic TV is also in possession of a case file where the then Deputy Commissioner of Police wrote that he had noticed ‘glaring’ shortcomings in the investigation of the case.

The document, dated November 29, 2016, stated that the DCP had asked for a special investigations team (SIT) to be reconstituted for further investigation. The DCP of the South district also proposed names of the reconstituted SIT.

"These are considered important and serious, having impact on the outcome of the investigation,” then DCP, South district had written on the case file.

Another document which was dated November 30, 2016 had the then Joint Commissioner of Police in his handwriting approving the SIT reconstitution as proposed. The Joint CP had specifically asked for an independent unit of Delhi Police to look into the shortcomings in the ‘interest’ of justice.
