National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, while addressing the 41st DRDO ( Defence Research and Development Organisation) Directors' conference in Delhi, has spoken about the importance of technology especially if it comes down to the scenario of war. NSA Doval stated, “30 years back, I published a comparative study on warfare in ancient civilisation and I came to know about a revolutionary invention ancient people did, i.e attaching the stone to slink. today after all the defence development, one thing is common that armies, who are better equipped and have higher technologies, have always called the shots and decided the destiny of mankind.”
NSA Doval further highlighting the importance of technology stated, “Niche technologies are something that makes India more security. It has to be need-based. We along with our defence services and intelligence agencies have to make a hard assessment that what are our needs which will give us an edge over our adversaries." He added, "Defence technology is very important. In the modern world, technology and money are going to interest the geopolitics. who will win depends on who got it more and here technology is more important.” “Defence technology needs to be updated side by side along with the development of science and technology," NSA Doval said.
NSA Doval, while speaking about the new emerging technologies in diverse areas, further said, “Out of those diverse areas, there are certain areas in which we have a definitive advantage. Over the years, I think the DRDO and other scientific platforms of the country have been able to develop many of these things.” In addition, NSA Doval spoke about our core technologies that are available and, “how we can harness them to our use in defence and security.”
The National Security Advisor in his speech also highlighted the role of the DRDO in terms of keeping the country safe, he had stated, “DRDO has a very seminal role in making India strong and secure.” In his opening speech, Doval also remembered Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and stated, "It is also a very special day because this is the anniversary of one of the great Indian luminary who had contributed so much in so many diverse ways in making this country strong."
