With figures of the mythical king, Ravana being burned down to ashes in cities like Delhi and Kota, the city of Bengaluru has a unique style in celebrating the nine-day-festival. The locals of the city honour Goddess Durga in her numerous avatars. Here are all the details on how the people of Bengaluru celebrate the festival with their unmatched enthusiasm.

Bengaluru and the nine-day-festival

The locals of Bengaluru city celebrate the festival of Dussehra with unparallel warmth and devotion. Starting every winter, Dussehra in South India is celebrated by honouring the various avatars of Goddess Durga, showcasing an artistic display of the Gombe Habba dolls. Popularly known as Dussehra dolls, the Gombe Habba dolls are placed on nine steps, which marks the celebration of nine days of the auspicious occasion of Dussehra. Goddesses like Shakthi, Vani and Shri are honoured with great enthusiasm and devotion during the nine days of Navratri. With intricate designs of Kolam (Rangoli) being drawn on the floor and Prasadam being prepared, Dussehra is marked as one of the most auspicious festivals in the Kannada calendar.

Airports of Bengaluru

With the locals of Bengaluru grandly celebrating the festival stylishly, the airports of Bengaluru have gone an extra mile for the celebration of Dussehra. The Bengaluru Airport is all dolled up for the celebration of the much-awaited festival. The motive behind the decoration was to spread awareness about the rich culture of South India. With scenes depicting the ancient marriage system and idols of Goddesses being displayed eminently, the theme of the setup is traditional. The nine-day-festival will come to an end with the celebration of Vijayadashmi.
