Earthquake in Assam: Magnitude 5.6 quake hits the state of Assam, tremors felt near Bhutan & Bangladesh

An earthquake with magnitude 5.6 on the Richter Scale hit the state of Assam, near the border with Sikkim and Bhutan on Wednesday morning at 10:20 AM. The epicentre of the earthquake was Kokrajhar and strong tremors were felt across the Northeast.

An earthquake with magnitude 5.6 on the Richter Scale hit the state of Assam, near the border with Sikkim and Bhutan on Wednesday morning at 10:20 AM. The epicentre of the earthquake was Kokrajhar and strong tremors were felt across the Northeast as well as in parts of West Bengal, Bihar and Bangladesh. 

As per reports, tremors lasted for about 10 seconds. There were no immediate reports of any damages. The locals rushed out of their houses as soon as the quake intensified.

An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 on Richter scale hit Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday morning at around 5:15 am. A few minutes later at 5:43 am another quake of magnitude 3.1 jolted the Jhajjar district of Haryana. No loss of life or damage to property has been reported so far.

Earlier on September 9, an earthquake measuring 3.8 on the Richter scale rattled Jhajjar district.
