Eid-Ul-Adha: Political leaders send in their wishes as India celebrates Eid

Known as the 'festival of sacrifice' in common parlance, Eid-ul-Adha is celebrated to mark the pious sacrifice of Ibrahim, the messenger in Islam of his son to the almighty. As the world surges in to celebrate this joyous even, Eminent political leaders also extend their heartiest wishes to the people.

Known as the 'festival of sacrifice' in common parlance, Eid-ul-Adha is celebrated to mark the pious sacrifice of Ibrahim, the messenger in Islam of his son to the almighty. As the world surges in to celebrate this joyous even, Eminent political leaders also extend their heartiest wishes to the people.

Taking to Twitter, Prime Minister Modi expressed his warm regards. Wishing the people, he wrote that he hopes that the occasion brings in peace and that happiness prevails in the society. Earlier in the Month the central Government under PM Modi's leadership facilitated the criminalisation of Triple Talaq and its passage through the Rajya Sabha. The decision was not only hailed by millions of oppressed Muslims but also marked a landmark victory against a custom which was subjugating women for decades.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also took the opportunity to extend his wishes to the Muslim community while hoping that the occasion deepens the bond of peace and harminy in the society.

 Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi was also seen offering namaz at Panja Sharif Dargah at Kashmere Gate on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha,

On the other hand, amid the relaxation of restrictions by the Modi Governemnt in Kashmir to enable its resident to observe their much loved festival, the Governor Satya Pal Malik also took to social media to express his wishes.

Opposition leader and BSP Chief Mayawati was also full of mirth while extending her regards for the people. She also took the opportunity to appeal to the state and central Government to work towards generating some means of income for the poor and the downtrodden.

To celebrate the day, the Muslims sacrifice a male goat as a symbol of the sacrifice made by Ibrahim, and offer prayers. One of the biggest festivals of Islam, Eid ul-Adha falls on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the last month of the lunar year.
