Hours after breaking confirmation that AgustaWestland middleman Christian Michel was to be extradited from Dubai to India on Tuesday night, Republic TV has now accessed the first pictures of an India-bound Michel.

In the picture, Michel, who is left-most among those present, appears to be being shepherded into the chartered flight via which he is scheduled to land in India at about 10:30 pm.

Michel's sensational extradition, months after a UAE court, promises to blow the decade-old Agusta Westland case wide open, given that he was privy to the money trail in the lengthy and procedural transaction that straddled three governments, witnessed significant changed in specification allegedly in an effort to force the tender towards one manufacturer, and which left numerous clues with probe agencies.

In addition to being the first with news of his extradition, Republic TV has also accessed details of his defence to Dubai prosecution authorities, in which he claimed that he was being named in the case "to pressurise him to testify against the previous government".

Michel, nonetheless, has already named three names who were involved in the deal post the specifications being changed, namely Guido Haschke, Julie Tyagi and Giuseppe Orsi.

It was in September that Christian Michel's extradition had initially been ordered. During that hearing, Michel's representation argued that there was no case against him and that he had been acquitted by Italian courts. The Indian side, however, maintained that Michel had been a key player in the AgustaWestland chopper scam.
