Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh has issued an almighty warning to Pakistan and its army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, and spelt out out the truth of the atrocities and terrorism that has been perpetrated on India from across the border. While addressing the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the Kartarpur corridor at Gurdaspur, the Punjab Chief Minister remarked on how he had declined Pakistan's invite to the ceremony at their end, and why
Here's what he said:
"I was also in the Army... I want to say something on Pakistan Army Chief. Pathankot happened. Sniper attack happened. Amritsar attack happened. Who teaches these things to people? It is ridiculous that people targeted normal citizens. What benefit do they get when they attacked normal kids?
Pakistan Army Chief Bajwa should remember we are Punjabis. We will revert in a befitted manner. We also have blood and sweat. He should not dare us. Bajwa should learn, love and respect and not dare us and not attack our people.
I am not going to Pakistan because they attack our people. I want to visit Kartarpur Sahib but I will not because Pakistan attacked our people brutally. Emotionally, I want to visit Kartarpur Sahib but I will not go because it's my responsibility that those who attack our people should not be visited. It is my responsibility to maintain peace.
I dare Bajwa to do terror activities in Punjab. I am also a soldier. I will tear them apart. They should not hurt us.
Before going to Kartarpur, I will have to enter Pakistan, and I won't do it. Because of Pakistan's actions. The day Pakistan stops these activities, I will go, but not until then. There are people who are suggesting to me to visit Pakistan. But I want to tell Pakistan that it is crossing limits, they are targeting our people like cowards. Emotionally I want to visit Kartarpur Sahib but as a responsible man I decline a few people's request to visit Pakistan."
Amarinder Singh had on Sunday issued a press release saying that he has declined the Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s invitation to attend the foundation stone laying for the Kartarpur Corridor owing to the killings of Indian soldiers by Pakistan armed forces, the terror attacks in his state, including the recent grenade attack in Amritsar, where three men died and 19 people were wounded.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu, who is a Minister in the Punjab government has accepted the neighbor’s invitation 'with unalloyed joy' through a letter, where he mentioned that this is the first step by both the nations, and said that 'Kartarpur Spirit possibly breaks the barriers of history, opening the borders of the heart and mind.'
