A 53-year-old Delhi-based fashion designer and her 50-year-old domestic help were found dead in their Vasant Kunj Enclave residence in the national capital late on Wednesday night. The deceased have been identified as Mala Lakhani and Bahadur. Mala Lakhani used to run a fashion boutique in New Delhi’s Green Park area.
In a further development, Delhi police have arrested three suspects in the connection with the murder. The motive of the murder is yet to be ascertained by the Delhi police. However, according to sources, all three arrested suspects used to work with Lakhani. Further police investigation is underway. Meanwhile, the bodies have been sent by the Delhi police for postmortem.
According to police, the bodies were found in a pool of blood and the house was ransacked when the police reached the location:
“We were informed by the locals at around 3 am after they found the entrance door to her house in Vasant Kunj was open and the security guard was missing from his seat. After reaching there, we found their bodies, lying in a pool of blood and house was robbed,” a senior Delhi police officer said speaking in the matter.
“She was running a boutique close by to her home, where three tailors were working with her. After the investigation so far, the arrested suspects have claimed that she did not pay their salary for a long time and that is why they decided to rob her and kill her. But we are still verifying all the facts ad information to come to a conclusion for the motive behind the murder,” the police added.
