Filmmakers Vivek Agnihotri and Ashoke Pandit express shock and anger at the Gadchiroli attack, condole families of the martyred

Vivek Agnihotri and Ashoke Pandit expressed shock at the attack carried out by Maoists in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli in which 16 persons were martyred. The filmmakers called the dastardly attack as ‘shameful’, ‘sad’ and ‘terrible’ while conveying their condolences to the families of the martyred.

Agnihotri tweeted that he saw this coming for long and wrote that the new government in Chhattisgarh had 'rejuvenated' the Naxal movement. He added that the ‘Urban Naxals’ were working to 'create unrest and chaos.' 

Agnihotri wrote, “OMG. This is terrible. This was coming. I have been saying it for long. Since the new government in Chhattisgarh Naxal movement has rejuvenated. The entire #UrbanNaxals ecosystem has been working to create unrest and chaos. My prayers with the victims families.” (sic) 

Pandit also mentioned ‘Urban Naxals’ and hoped the particular section and others like Congress party, ‘tukde tukde gang’, Lutyens media will not ask proofs of the attack.

He tweeted, “The dastardly attack on our security personnel in Gadchiroli, Maharashtra is shameful & sad. I hope the urban naxals, Congress, tukde tukde gang , Lutyens media will not ask for proofs of this massacre of our soldiers. Heartfelt Condolences to the bereaved families. ओम् शांति !” 

On Wednesday afternoon, Maoists triggered an improvised explosive device (IED) in order to blow up the police vehicle on the Kurkheda-Korchi road in Gadchiroli. 15 police personnel of the C60 Commando and their driver have been killed in the attack. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the attack, saluting the brave forces and affirmed that their sacrifices will not be forgotten. 

About the attack:

An IED blast was carried out by Maoists on a police vehicle on Wednesday in Gadchiroli area of Maharashtra. As per reports, several officers of the C60 Commando Unit had suffered injuries. Sixteen jawans have been martyred in the attack.

The incident happened when 20 jawans of Quick Response Team were on their way to the sight where the Maoists burnt the vehicles later last night on April 30. 

Meanwhile, the injured jawans have been shifted to the nearby hospital. More details awaited. 

As per sources from the Gadchiroli Police, around 200-250 Maoist on Tuesday night attacked a construction site and these Maoists are known to be a part of the Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh Dalam (Naxal units).
