FIR filed against Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani for sharing fake video attacking Valsad school on social media. Details here

In an unprecedented newsbreak, an FIR has been lodged against Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani over sharing a fake video on social media in which a teacher can be seen beating a student, claiming the video to be from a school in Gujarat's Valsad, while it was from Egypt.

Sharing the video on Twitter, Mevani stated that it is "barbarism of worst form", terming it as an atrocity case. In the tweet, demanded the netizens to share the video in order to shut down the school and the teacher.

The RM VM School in Valsad that Jignesh Mevani has accused in his tweet has registered a complaint against the Gujarat MLA in the matter in the Valsad Police station. 

In the FIR filed by the Chairman of the school, it is stated that the video shared by Gujarat MLA is not of any teacher of the school.

In the tweet, Mevani wrote, "None of your WhatsApp contacts and groups should be left behind. Send this video to everyone and make it viral. This teacher is from RM VM School. Share this video to an extent and the teacher and school both are shut."

 However, the tweet has been deleted from the micro-blogging platform:

Notably, when Mevani shared the video on social media, a number of users on the micro-blogging website claimed that the video is from Egypt. He then took to Twitter and questioned the people to tell him if it’s from Valsad or Egypt.

"Is this video of Valsad Gujarat or Egypt? This is most shocking and painful," he wrote in his tweet.
